Anne Dudley

Born in Kent, England in 1956, Anne Dudley qualified as a classical music performer with a master’s degree from King’s College, and Performer’s Diploma from the Royal College of Music. Despite this background, Anne refused to be pigeonholed as a classical performer. She moved into the pop world, working as a session musician and getting involved professionally with Trevor Horn, working with both ABC and Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

Anne has worked with artists across the board, from Rod Stewart and Elton John, to Pulp and the Spice Girls. She was also a founding member of The Art Of Noise, and has been involved in a number of more esoteric projects such as the North-African-influenced ‘Songs from A Victorious City’, co-written with Jaz Coleman.

With Rush, “wonderful arranger” Anne (according to Geddy) arranged and conducted strings on ‘Power Windows’, at Abbey Road Studios in London. Meanwhile, bigger arrangements started to catch Anne’s eye, including working with Michael Flatley on the music to ‘Lord of The Dance’. Anne composed film scores including ‘Buster’, ‘The Crying Game’ and ‘American History X’, and it was for her 1997 score to ‘The Full Monty’ that she was awarded an Oscar.

More recently Anne scored the music for ‘Monkeybone’ and is currently working on ‘Tristan and Isolde’ with director Kevin Reynolds.
